Peru, Cusco

Our first stop in South America was Lima after the most hellish twelve hour flight ever. Word of advice never fly with Iberia long distance. We arrived to Lima and went straight to a hostel near the airport to try and regain some strength for our early morning flight to Cusco.

What better way to start our 6 month journey than in one of the elevated terraces in La Plaza de Las Armas with a cool Cusqueña.

People watching in the square. Forget Prada or Gucci, the multi-functional Andean handbag is the way forward.

The wind carried this little woman's hat half way across the square. Bruno being a gentleman did the honour of placing it firmly back on her head.

Took a bus to the most elevated part of Cusco. Amazing views over the entire city surrounded by the Andean mountains.

Even in the middle of nowhere Coke find a wall to advertise.

I guess not all locals are benefiting from the huge influx of tourism, however in the space of a few days we saw at least four Hummers driving by, one of which had four pauper priests inside.

This cheeky woman was demanding "una propina" for every shot we took, needless to say after Bruno had a go with her, she was mad with only one Sole for her posing.

One of many street artists in Cusco, this was taken from our hostel balcony.

Having a gorgeous dinner from one of the colonial terraces just off the main square.

Watching a huge storm approaching from the terrace, it was time to drink up and head home.

I don't know how we made it, but this photo was taken as soon as we entered our room. We didn't get one drop of rain on us. It poured down all night and became very cold.

Word of advice, make sure to pack a travel hair dryer and don't wash your hair last thing in the evening. I have never been so cold as I was that night. To warm my wet head I went to sleep in my hat along with my fleece and thermals. Can you believe I was still freezing.
